2022 in review: new captcha, updated language tests, and push notifications

As the holiday season approaches, we'd like to thank you for your continued commitment to our community. In 2022, you performed 637 million assignments and took part in 16,600 projects! Without your enthusiasm and energy, we wouldn't be where we are today. In this digest, we'd like to remind you about some of the key features we added to our platform this year to improve your workflow and ensure a more efficient, streamlined experience. Keep reading to find out more.

Push notifications for selected tasks

Don't forget that you can enable notifications for when new tasks from your favorites appear. Be the first to learn about them and choose the ones you like! 20,000 Tolokers already use this feature.

Here's how to enable notifications:

1. Add tasks to Favorites.
2. Enable notifications for selected tasks via your preferred channels in Settings — Push, Message, or Email. You can also enable notifications on your desktop.
3. Done! Now you're all set.

Please note that Tolokers who perform tasks most efficiently will get first pick.

Our new captcha

We also updated our captcha - a tool we use to differentiate between real and automated users. The new captcha is easier to use and more entertaining. It also protects our platform from robots and unscrupulous users. Right now, 30,000 Tolokers see the new captcha daily.

What's changed?

• Take small breaks in between tasks with mini games designed to divert you for a few seconds.
• All games are simple — you can complete them quickly and easily.
• Less errors and no foreign words, just pictures and recognizable symbols.

Updated language tests

Once you pass one of our language tests, you can confirm your proficiency and get a chance to receive more tasks with higher payment. Because we value integrity, honesty, and hard effort, we've updated our tests to weed out the use of machine translation. This means that more tasks will be assigned to honest Tolokers with proven language skills.

To take a language test:

1. Go to your profile.
2. Add a language.
3. Click on the “Confirm skills” button, which will appear if such a test exists.
